It was back in November 2020 that I first joined Louise Rodgers and Rachel Birchmore on the couch. Together with Tim Bell and Melissa Dowler, we discussed leadership, developing a team and the power of three.
It was a delight to rejoin them back on the couch to discuss what some have described it as the brave move (but I don’t see it that way) to step away from Bell Phillips, why I’ve chosen to do this, and my intent to promote change in the built environment in a more multi-faceted way through teaching, design review, client advice and mentoring the next generation of brilliant studios. We talked about my desire to stimulate debate and highlight challenges and issues within the industry in a way that is difficult when you’re also trying to lead a practice.
Also listen to the previous episode with Christophe Egret, formerly of Studio Egret West, who talks (far more eloquently) about similar themes.
