When you procure services and contractors based on lowest cost.

When architects, consultants and contractors are pushed to cut their price to the bone and beyond to win work

When clients fail to recognise when fees and costs are so low that it can’t be possible to provide an adequate service or adequate buildings.

When you seek to deliver buildings as quickly and cheaply as possible.

Then you end up with a culture of cost recovery, blame, shifting responsibility and buck passing. It’s a formula for failure.

This is the uk construction industry. It’s fundamentally wrong. It needs to change.
