Stop exploiting emerging practices

HEY, if you're an arts or cultural institution STOP running design competitions aimed at young architecture practices for projects that have piss-all fee.

Just undertake a simple EOI and interview.

Here's a hypothetical example: You invite five practices to undertake a design competition. If the project fee is circa £50,000… and an architecture practice expends circa £10,000 on a design submission… each studio has already spent in excess of any profit they'd make IF they won the job, and… the practices competing will have spent more combined than the total fee available.

It's not ethical, it's exploitative and it's financially crippling for young architects.

If you're a client looking to appoint an architect and want to discuss how to do it in a more positive way, let's have a chat.
